Abstract

The results of a didactic experience carried out by General Chemistry students of the first year of the Bachelor's Degree in Biology are presented. In this activity they are asked to analyze an educational article that presents an experimental design for the determination of carbon dioxide produced by biological samples. The students delve into the chemical concepts and procedures involved in this General Biology laboratory practice, applying what they have learned in chemistry. The objective is to reflect on the integration between both subjects; and in particular, on the common aspects of the experimental sciences that should be addressed jointly with the same criteria and terminology. A qualitative analysis of the results obtained is carried out, in which conceptual and pedagogical aspects are discussed. The value of this activity is rescued, which can be raised by both chemistry and biology teachers, to consolidate learning. It is urged to improve communication and search for agreements between teachers of different disciplines.
