INTERDISCIPLINARY MODEL IN CHEMICAL SCIENCE TEACHING: SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND DETERMINATION OF THE MOLAR SOLUBILITY OF A COORDINATION POLYMER

The present work reports an interdisciplinary model of teaching in Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry through the synthesis and characterization of a coordination polymer (Bi-2) based on bismuth ion and iminodiacetic acid as ligand and further determination of its water molar solubility. The experimental planification involved teaching of synthetic techniques (solvothermal route) as well as solid-state studies such as FTIR, DRX, TGA, DSC, that allowed us to analyze the purity of Bi-2. Finally, the molar water solubility was determined by UV-visible spectroscopy at room temperature with the purpose of making future studies regarding applications of Bi-2 in aqueous medium.
